Overview
This virtual workshop does not only show you HOW to draw characters, but also help you transition to the Digital Art world. Learn the basic functions and features of any digital art software and start drawing on your computer, tablet, or smartphone. We will teach you the fundamentals of character drawing from sketching with shapes, creating clean line work, and maximizing your digital art software’s features for coloring and shading.
This course provides live instructor-led demonstration and discussions, student engagement and hands on exercises using Zoom, Google Classroom and ANY drawing software that has a brush library and allows LAYERS and BLENDING MODES. When necessary, students will complete exercises after-class to be submitted before the next one.
Course Outline:

1 Drawing with Basic Shapes Learn the fundamentals of drawing with basic shapes. Study your favorite characters and learn how they are drawn and constructed. |

2 Character Creation Create your own unique characters with basic shapes. Add physical details like hair, clothes, and facial features to give them their own look. |

3 Coloring and Layers Discover different brushes in your chosen drawing program and bring your characters to life with color. |

4 Shadows and Highlights Add depth to your characters with shadows and highlights. Breathe personality into them with their own story.

Prerequisite:
Students must have a computer or mobile device with ANY drawing software that has a brush library and allows LAYERS and BLENDING MODES. This class will utilize Zoom and OneDrive, and it is preferred that the student has a drawing tablet for computers or a stylus for mobile devices. Stable internet connection is recommended.
