SUMMARY:PHO NC II Module 2 (COC 2):  Setting Up Studio Lights, Equipment, and Accessories
DESCRIPTION:This is the second of four modules in the Core Unit of Competency in Photography NC II.\nIn this module, you will learn the fundamentals of using studio flash, basic lighting principles, studio photography equipment, common lighting patterns, and three-point lighting technique—all geared toward helping you create professional-grade photographs. Although this is more focused on capturing studio portraits, the principles and techniques discussed here can be applied in various types of subjects.\nThis module is perfect for photography enthusiasts with knowledge in basic photography who:\n\nwish to have a formal training on shooting with studio lights\nthose who are considering a career as a photographer.\n\nMethod of Teaching\nFull Online, Self-paced, with consultations via video conferencing platforms.\nDuration:\n40 hours (5 days)\nWhat will be covered\nBasic, common, and core competencies comprise the Photography NC II qualification. This module will cover below module contents. Plus, the free Learning Management System (LMS) access to the Photography NC II Basic and Common Units of Competency.\nModule Content:\n\nLearning Outcome 1: Plan Lighting Requirements\nLearning Outcome 2: Prepare Specific Work Environment\nLearning Outcome 3: Light the Subject\nLearning Outcome 4: Capture ImageLearning Outcome 5: Restore Work Environment and Equipment\n\nEntry Requirements\nGeneral\n\nMust have successfully completed PHO NC II Module 1 (COC 1): Operating a Camera and Composing a Subject.\nBe able to read, comprehend, and discuss printed information in English.\nBe able to write simple statements, recognize numbers, and perform basic numeric calculations.\nComputer literate and willing to learn new software.\nAt least 18 years of age by the time they finish the training program.\n\nEquipment / Software:\n\nMust own or have access to a Digital SLR (DSLR) or Mirrorless Interchangeable-Lens Camera (MILC) with lens and basic accessories (battery, charger, memory card, card reader or camera cable for downloading the files to the computer)\nMust own or have access to basic photography studio equipment: ***\n\nAt least 2 units of studio strobes or compact flash\nAt least 2 units of diffusing light modifiers (ex. softbox)\nAt least 2 units of light stands\nFlash trigger compatible with the studio strobes or compact flash\nIndoor area for shooting\n\n\nMust have stable internet connection\nDevice with good audio and video, and Zoom application\n\n*** Alternatively, a student may use the PCCI studio and equipment (for 2 hours) for FREE, to perform the requirements.\nDocuments:\n\nDuly accomplished Learners Profile Form (MIS 03-01)\nFour pieces of passport-size colored photo\n\nwhite background\nshirt with collar\nwith name in front (digital text is acceptable)\n\n\nPhotocopy of any valid government ID (showing the correct spelling of your full name).\nPhotocopy of birth certificate\n\nRecognition of Prior Learning (RPL)\nThe Photography NC II training program offers RPL for existing competencies. The RPL framework enables easier participation in the training by acknowledging skills and knowledge obtained through prior experience, such as in the workplace.\nTo be eligible for RPL, candidates must provide:\n\nEvidence of relevant knowledge and skills (e.g. employment certificate, training certificates related to the program)\nPass an Institutional Assessment\n\nThe Institutional Assessment evaluates a trainee’s mastery of competency units and is conducted by a trainer before each module starts. Upon satisfactory completion of each core competency unit, a Certificate of Competency will be awarded.\nTo inquire, please email tesda@pcci.edu.ph.\nAssessment and Certification\n1.) The PHOTOGRAPHY NC II qualification can be obtained by earning Certificates of Competency (COCs) in the following areas:\n\nCOC 1: Operate camera and compose a subject\nCOC 2: Set up studio lights, equipment and accessories\nCOC 3: Perform post capture processing\nCOC 4: Present finished products\n\n2.) Upon obtaining all COCs, trainees must complete the National Assessment.
